Small Business Month Feature Polished
As Batesville Main Street celebrates Small Business Month in May, downtown businesses like Polished continue to demonstrate how local entrepreneurs help shape the heart and culture of the community. For six years on the historic square, Polished has become much more than a salon—it’s a place built on relationships, creativity, and genuine care for every client who walks through the door.
From a Small Beginning to a Thriving Downtown Business
Owned by Lindsey Red, Polished first began in 2016 in a small building along Highway 51 before making its move to downtown Batesville four years later.
“In 2016 we started in a small building on HWY 51,” Red shared. “Four years later we moved to the downtown square. This year, October 2026, we will celebrate 10 years of business!”
What started as a passion for nails has steadily grown into a full-service salon with a dedicated team and loyal clientele.

“What started as a love for nails, has grown into a full service salon with 3 stylists, 3 nail techs and the absolute best clientele,” she said.
Red credits her faith as the foundation behind the salon’s journey. “I definitely give God the credit for blessing me with the opportunity to have such a business. If it were not for Him it wouldn’t be possible.”
Creativity, Growth, and Client Care
Polished continues to expand its services while staying focused on creating an enjoyable experience for clients of all ages.
“One of the most exciting things happening right now is the expansion of our men’s grooming services,” Red explained. “With Georganna Shirley and our newest addition, Bethany Daugherty, we are continuing to grow that side of the business and create a space where men can enjoy professional grooming services in a relaxing atmosphere.”
The salon has also become known for its kid-friendly environment and custom haircut designs that make salon visits exciting and stress-free for children.

“Whether it’s a simple trim, a trendy cut, or a special design, we focus on creating a positive experience that keeps both kids and parents happy.”
Polished also prioritizes staying current with evolving beauty trends and techniques. “Growth, creativity, and client care are always at the center of what we do.”
More Than Clients – We’re Family
For Red, the relationships built through the salon are what matter most.
“I think what our customers love most about our business is the relationships we’ve built over the years,” she shared. “So many of them have truly become part of the Polished family.”
Those relationships are strengthened through the salon’s personal touches and willingness to go above and beyond.
“We go above and beyond to make sure they feel taken care of—whether that’s squeezing in a missed appointment, accommodating last-minute needs, making special orders, or even allowing our storefront to be used for drop-offs and pickups.”
Red believes those small gestures are what make locally owned businesses special. “Those are the kinds of personal touches you don’t often find outside of locally owned businesses, and they mean a lot to our clients.”
Built on Care and Connection
The heart behind Polished is rooted in intentional care and long-term connection.
“I want my customers to know that we genuinely strive to provide the same level of quality and care that we would expect ourselves,” Red said. “Every service we offer is done with intention, attention to detail, and a true commitment to making each person feel valued.”
That mindset has led to meaningful friendships that continue to grow over time.
“We want every client to leave knowing we gave our absolute best, not just because we hope they return, but because we value the relationships we’re building.”
What keeps Red motivated after nearly a decade in business is the opportunity to be part of people’s lives during important milestones and everyday moments alike.
“We get to be part of so many special moments in their lives—doing their children’s hair and nails for prom, birthdays, and big milestones, helping brides feel their most beautiful before their weddings, and getting clients ready for important events.”
“There’s something so special about watching them walk out the door confident… ready for whatever moment they’re stepping into.”
Investing in the Heart of Downtown Batesville
Red believes downtown Batesville plays a vital role in bringing the community together.
“I believe it’s so important to keep downtown vibrant because it’s truly the heart of our community,” she shared.
Being located on the square allows Polished to participate in beloved local events like Scare on the Square, Open House, and Art Mart, while also supporting neighboring businesses throughout the day.
“One of the best parts of being on the square is how easy it is to support our fellow local businesses,” Red said. “Whether it’s shopping at Stubbs Department Store or Mae Mae’s, grabbing coffee from Honey Bees, picking up a tea from Batesville Nutrition, stopping by Flint’s Hardware… or grabbing a quick bite from Pizza Hut… my employees and I love being able to walk right out the door and support the same businesses that support us.”
She also enjoys opening the salon’s storefront to help showcase and encourage other small businesses in the community.
“We’re also excited about the new businesses and opportunities coming to the square,” she added. “Being downtown makes everything more accessible, more connected, and more alive—and that’s something really special.”
Celebrating Small Business Month
As Batesville recognizes Small Business Month this May, Polished stands as an example of what makes downtown special: locally owned businesses built on faith, hard work, creativity, and relationships.
From beauty services to community involvement, Polished continues to create an environment where people feel welcomed, valued, and connected—helping downtown Batesville thrive one relationship at a time.
