As part of celebrating Small Business Month, downtown Batesville is proud to highlight one of its most beloved gathering spaces—HoneyBee Coffee Cupboard.

A Business Rooted in Heart and Purpose

Owned by Drew and Kayla Wilkinson, HoneyBee Coffee Cupboard has been serving the downtown Batesville community for three years—but its story began long before its doors ever opened. What started as a simple, personal nickname grew into something much larger.

“HoneyBee Coffee Cupboard started as something personal before it ever became a business,” they shared. “The name came from what I saved my wife as in my phone way back in 2011, ‘HoneyBee,’ and that spirit of warmth and care is what shaped everything we built.”

That sense of warmth has carried through every stage of the business’s growth. What began as a single local coffee shop has expanded to include a second location inside UMMC Grenada, while still maintaining its roots right on the historic square.

More Than Coffee—An Experience

While HoneyBee is known for its high-quality coffee and handcrafted drinks, the business has intentionally grown into something more.

“We specialize in high-quality coffee and handcrafted drinks, but what really sets us apart is the full experience,” they explained. “Our in-house baked pastries have become a major draw, along with our HoneyBee Supper Cupboard line of freezer meals that help busy families put dinner on the table.”

From creative seasonal drinks to a thoughtfully curated retail section filled with gifts and coffee-related items, HoneyBee continues to evolve while staying true to its mission.

“What makes HoneyBee different is that we are not just a coffee shop; we are a place people gather, connect, and feel known.”

Customers consistently point to the welcoming atmosphere as a defining feature. “Our customers love everything about our business, from the cozy, Christian atmosphere, to the incredible food and drinks.”

A Commitment to Quality and Care

At the core of HoneyBee’s success is a deeply rooted commitment to excellence—not just in products, but in purpose.

“At HoneyBee, we believe in doing everything ‘heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men’ (Colossians 3:23),” they shared. “Every drink, pastry, and freezer meal is made with intention, consistency, and a standard rooted in doing things the right way, not just when someone is watching.”

This philosophy shows up in every detail—from ingredient selection to customer service—ensuring that each visit reflects genuine care.

“Whether you are grabbing something quickly or staying awhile, our goal is simple: that you experience something made with genuine care and purpose every single time.”

Driven by Faith, Family, and Community

Running a small business comes with its challenges, but for the Wilkinsons, the motivation goes far beyond day-to-day operations.

“What keeps us motivated, even on the hardest days, is knowing that this business is bigger than just coffee,” they said. “It is about providing for our family, creating something meaningful in the community, and building a place where people feel welcomed and cared for.”

They continued, “At the end of the day, it is not just about sales or success, it is about stewardship, consistency, and leaving something worthwhile for our kids to see and be proud of.”

Investing in the Heart of Batesville

For HoneyBee Coffee Cupboard, downtown Batesville is more than just a location—it’s a vital part of the community’s identity.

“Our Downtown is the heartbeat of Batesville,” they shared. “It is the very hub of the town, with the courthouse, city hall, schools, and many established businesses. It’s important for the continued growth of Batesville to maintain the essence of our beautiful downtown culture.”

Celebrating Small Business Month

Businesses like HoneyBee Coffee Cupboard are what make downtown Batesville special. Their story is one of heart, faith, and intentional growth—creating not just a successful business, but a place where community thrives.

As Small Business Month is celebrated this May, HoneyBee stands as a reminder that behind every storefront is a story, a purpose, and a commitment to making Batesville stronger—one cup, one conversation, and one connection at a time.
